One Ship St. could play key role in development of life-sciences complex in Providence

PROVIDENCE, R.I. — An entity affiliated with Wexford Science Technology of Baltimore, which is negotiating with state leaders to build a life-sciences complex on former Route 195 land, has paid $3.5 million to buy a small building on half an acre adjacent to 195 land they also hope to buy.

That purchase has sparked conversation and urban design work by the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission, 195 District Director Peter McNally told the commission at a meeting Monday.
