First project on former highway land in Providence will break ground Monday morning

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Rhode Island political and business leaders are preparing to gather on former highway land Monday morning where the Wexford Science & Technology team expects to break ground for its innovation center.

This is the first project to break ground on the 19 acres that the I-195 Redevelopment District Commission is working to develop.

Wexford has secured three tenants for the building: the Cambridge Innovation Center, Brown University’s School of Professional Studies and Johnson & Johnson’s Health Technology Center.

Both Johnson & Johnson and Brown expect to move existing, and expanding, operations from nearby locations into the Wexford project once it’s complete.
