Cambridge Innovation Center is continuing its expansion beyond Cambridge with a new location in Providence.
The Kendall Square-based startup hub signed a lease for 66,000 square feet in a new “Innovation Building” under development in downtown Providence, according to the Rhode Island Commerce Corp. It will join an arm of Brown University as anchor tenants in the project.
CIC has been pushing out from its namesake city in recent years, opening outposts in downtown Boston, St. Louis, Rotterdam and Miami. The company — which leases space to startups and small companies and says its tenants have grown to create more than 40,000 jobs — is in talks about locations in more cities, founder and chief executive Tim Rowe has said.
